Golf Event!
Jackson Larson, Dad Fizz and Mom Mary, joined 113 other golfers to raise $22,207 for Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare during the 24th Annual MN CU4Kids Golf Tournament. Generous credit unions and vendors played a significant role in the event’s success, along with the MN Credit Unions for Kids Golf Tournament committee. Teams can purchase as much string and as many mulligans and power drives as they like, all donated to the cause, so it’s not about the scores.
Jackson Larson, a Gillette patient, has found a way to continue to golf with his family since a tragic accident left him paralyzed in the lower half of his body. This event was the first time Jackson golfed 18 holes using a special Para Golfer cart. “I’m so grateful for what Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare has done for me, I want to give back,” states outgoing, charismatic Jackson. Jackson shared his story at the dinner with an update on what he’s achieved this past year.
Jackson’s New Para Golfer
The Para Golfer raises Jackson to a standing position and supports him. Jackson uses his left hand to hold onto a handle which steadies him and provides him with the leverage to produce a strong one arm swing with his right hand for driving the ball. “I watched Jackson sink a putt for a birdie while taking photos,” said Becky Holst, Development officer for Gillette. “I should have been taking video! It was a sweet putt!”
