Great Turnout for the 23rd Annual Log A Load for Kids Golf Tournament

Twenty-five teams of golfers headed out at the shotgun start the morning of September 6th, to support the mission of Minnesota Log A Load for Kids. Pokegama Lake served as a beautiful backdrop for the 23rd Annual Log A Load for Kids golf tournament held at Pokegama Golf Course in Grand Rapids, MN.

Logging business owners, timber industry businesses, timber and paper mills and local business professionals joined together to support the mission of Log A Load for Kids, netting over $11,000 for Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare. Ray’s Sport & Cycle in Grand Rapids, provided a 4 wheeler and sponsored the Hole-in-One prize on Hole 17. One golfer came within inches of the hole.  Next year!

With another successful tournament behind us, we thank all of the holes sponsors, teams, volunteers, Pokegama Grill owners and staff, and Pokegama Golf Course management and staff.

Above, Jake Kesanen, with McCoy Construction & Forestry, tries his skill on the putting contest. Erin Jurkovich, Gillette Children’s employee and golf event volunteer, explains the putting contest to interested golfers. An additional $470 was raised as golfers tried to win four rounds of golf generously donated by Giants Ridge Golf Resort in Biwabik, MN.
