The impact of generosity

Dairy Queen has a unique connection with our Orthotics, Prosthetics and Seating department (OPS), helping us to ensure that our patients have the equipment and care they need to thrive.

OPS teams work with kids to provide them with the equipment they need to thrive. This includes artificial limbs (prostheses) and braces (orthoses), like the ones pictured here.

It also includes:

  • Evaluations and mounts for augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices, like pictured here with Joe.
  • Power wheelchair controls.
  • Wheelchair seating.

For children who use wheelchairs, proper seating is so important to their health and comfort. And for patients who are nonverbal, AAC devices can help them communicate with their loved ones. These tools really do make a huge difference in the lives of our patients, and we provide them to the kids we serve thanks to DQ’s support.

And Gillette’s OPS team also helps fit our CranioCaps!

Gillette was one of the nation’s first hospitals to develop a custom orthosis to correct flat head syndrome. Our Gillette CranioCap® orthosis was the nation’s first orthosis approved by the Food and Drug Administration for deformational plagiocephaly, so our specialists have extensive knowledge of the treatment.

Through Dairy Queen’s adoption of the OPS program at Gillette, they are providing invaluable support so that every day the OPS team can continue to deliver life-changing care to children who have complex medical needs. This partnership helps Gillette patients reach their full potential and realize everything they CAN achieve.

Thank you, Dairy Queen!
